Anna Sui and Paul&Joe Glitter Polishes

These are some of my favorite polishes in my collection and they are all glitters. Anna Sui makes some of the best in my opinion because they dry relatively fast, the colors are unique, the texture is thick but not too thick that it makes it hard to apply and they scent/packaging is so pretty! Paul and Joe is also great. I am not a fan of the scent but the texture is good and the color payoff on the nude glitter I have is gorgeous, it does dry a bit slower though.

Anna Sui 701: This is a pretty silver glitter with a sort of nude/purple base. I think it's the most flattering on me and you can build it up to be very glittery or stay with 2 coats as I have in the photo to make it more translucent and blend with your natural nail color.

Anna Sui 301: A deep pink with yellowish iridescent glitters. This is sort of similar to 701 but more of the base and less of the glitter show up.

Anna Sui 305: Such a cute and femanine nude pink color. The glitters are more blue iridescent and the base is more jelly like, so there is even more base and less glitter than the previous. It can make a nice top coat to add a light pink shimmer coat to a flat color.

Anna Sui 107: This is a top coat but I love to wear it alone too. In the swatch I only have it on with 2 coats but going up to 3 coats makes it nicer to wear on it's own. It's basically a clear turquoise-ish blue jelly base with big silver glitter and blue iridescent shimmers. Similar in texture to 305 but a little more smooth.

Two fingers have Sephora by OPI Mermaid to Order under it to show how pretty it is as a topcoat!
Paul & Joe 23: A pretty beige nude color with blue/green iridescent glitters. I think this is a very flattering nude shade because of the glitters. Sometimes a flat nude might look odd on certain skin tones but with the glitters and shimmer in this one it seems more wearable and more fun at the same time.

I highly recommend all of these but if I had to pick I would pick Anna Sui overall, they dry a bit faster and the colors just seem more unique. Altho 23 from P&J is just too gorgeous to pass up!

Saw this awhile ago on Sephora.com but couldn't find it anywhere to smell it here... The last week was browsing in Winners (like TJ MAxx or Marshalls for people in the US) and found boxes of them for $12.99 (orginal about $48) so I got one without smelling it. It has a bit too much of a fresh citrus note that sticks to me badly but it eventually settles to more of a powders floral fresh scent. I wish it didn't have the fruity thing going on but it's nice and the bottle is adorable! My mommy fell in love with it too.

Ottawa Trip

We took a day trip to Ottawa, mainly to go to a big Asian grocery store called T&T. I heard they are a place in Canada that sells My Beauty Diary Masks so I was excited to go there for that. Here is my random Ottawa Haul. We didn't do much there but it was fun to get out of our city. For masks I got the Blooming Beauty masks in Lily, Phalaenopsis, Hydrangea and the regular line's Bulgarian Rose. Also picked up a Shiseido Tsubaki Head Spa shampoo. On Bank Street I got 4 truffles at Truffle Treasures.

I can get some of the cutest things for cheap because they often have great sales, online is easy but in the shops you have to look around about (but it's worth it). Last week got this little box of earrings for 4.99$ which made me pretty happy!

Picked this up at Sephora yesterday, didn't expect to though. I was in to buy the Extreme wear foundation then decided not to, then (still really want) decided on the new Dior Addict lipstick in Tokyo but they had none left. Since I had a VIB coupon for some free Benefit stuff for 50$+ I chose this since I was stalking it for a little while. The lighting is bad in these photos, the sun was going down. It's so pretty! I haven't touched it yet!

Perfect nail polishes for spring (opaque)

I got these 2 polishes from my trips to the shop called C&C Korean Cosmetics here in Montreal. They are from the brand The Face Shop and are pretty inexpensive. I get them for 4$CAD each and really worth it. All the colors from this collection of polishes are creamy, opaque and last with a good top coat. The only thing is they are a little thick but I find this the case with most opaque polishes and you need 2-3 coats because the first is streaky (again quite common in my opinion).

I adore the colors pay off with these especially for the price!

So... since before the Holidays there has been a shop which I probably passed by numerous times and never noticed. It's called C&C Korean Cosmetics and I am just kicking myself for not seeing this sooner. They carry Laneige, Etude House, Skin Food, Missha etc. I found it online when I really spent a little while searching for playing in Montreal with Asian cosmetics. BIG YAY! I kind of freaked out when I found the store. Here is my haul from 2 trips there. I also have a VIP card and am planning a big haul for the end of the month because you get 15% off on your birthday.

I have never bought any H&M shoes but I saw these and maybe it was because I was tired of wearing boots but I thought that I had to have them. Now I can't stop looking at shoes for spring. Today there is a enormous amount of slush and water puddles everywhere. I only went out for a walk to the post office not far from my house and thankfully I have waterproof boots which my manager calls sarcastically... "feminine", whatever 'cause I can track through any weather. <3

I am so excited! I saw this at Urban Outfitters and it was meant to come home with me. It's my first Paul & Joe product and it's a trio of nail lacquers. I put in a Mrs Whippy Bath Bomb! It has a yummy strawberries and cream scent which is ten times better in the bath than sniffing it dry. The shape is adorable, right? It's one of the new types of bath bombs which change color in the bath and have more of a frothy texture but is softer on the skin compared to the other 3 (Fizzbanger, Twilight & Dargon's Egg)I couldn't just do a bath bomb so I crumbled in a bit on the Candy Cane Bubble Bar. Yummy sweet candy scent and big frothy bubbles as usual!

INGLOT Eye Shadows

I recently got really into INGLOT and eyeshadow in general! I used to only be an eyeliner/mascara girl if anything. I bought my first pallet (the round 3) at half price so 20$ at a closing sale. I said what the heck, so I got this and a nail polish. I really wish I'd gotten more but they had no square pallets left. I'm kind of glad it closed in my mall, so I don't waste all my money there! I made my way to another INGLOT weeks later and started my 5 square pallet.

INGLOT is pretty awesome because the "Freedom System" lets you pick your palette and fill it with the shadows you want. You can chose a regular round pallet or the really awesome magnetized squares. My 5 pan was 12$ for the palette alone which is more than a MAC one I believe, but it's kinda more awesome! The shadows you fill it with are 10$ each which is cheaper than MAC, and are 2.7g each which is bigger. (Mac is 13$ each shadow at 1.5g) The endless amount of colors and finishes of the shadows is amazing. If you have an INGLOT near you, please check it out, it's no gimmicks, no fluff fantastic eyeshadows and get the squares, much cooler and fun to play with the case!

I left my 5 pan with one missing, I can't wait to go back and fill the last one of my five pan!

My growing addiction to Youtube and my love for Anna Sui led me to watching many videos on Asian cosmetics which then led me to purchasing them online. My first ever order came about a week and a half ago and I was so excited! I chose things that were a little bit all over the place but they were things I really wanted to try. Yesstyle.com is where I ordered everything, to be honest their prices are a tiny bit higher than other websites but they have everything in one place which is why I chose to order from there (plus I ordered a backpack). There is a whole Tokidoki Make-up lign out, and it's very adorable. I had never bought anything from there before, just because... well I didn't need anything and I never decided on something to get. I saw this set online before my bf picked it up for me at Sephora (he's so good he took my card and went to pick everything I needed this morning for my Mom's birthday and for me while he went shopping). The set is adorable and they feel so soft! There are 3 eye make-up brushes each one a different character from Simone's Tokidoki minions: Eyeshadow brush, Crease brush and Angle brush.

I love love Anna Sui cosmetics. It might be because everything is beautifully packaged all in black and purple and everything in in rose shapes. I got a few things last week because at a drugstore downtown if you spent 50$ in Anna Sui products you got a free make-up bag with a full sized lipstick, lip gloss keychain and mini facial serum. I got 2 nail colors: 301 (sparkly darker pink) and 305 shimmer pink nude. I love them so much. The only problem is that when I put it on the fumes were intense, which is saying something because the whole week I had been using polish and remover for some nail art. Nail Art? You'll see, I have something new to show you hopefully soon!

I haven't been feeling well at all lately... so today I made some Coconut Cookies to help me take my mind of things. They are yummy! Macaroons are usually the only cookies I make out of coconut so this was a welcome change. I got them from Martha Stewart while watching her Mother's Day special on television. Off to prepare a bath.

PS: I used desecrated and shredded coconut instead of the "coconut chips" which is basically thin slices of fresh coconut (I didn't have any)

Wishing I could have a mini art studio for us at our house won't come true just yet. We have a shed the back yard but it's full of "Dad" stuff and some junk. sigh... Anyway I got myself a book and it came today. It's called Print Liberation: The Screen Printing Primer. I'm excited to start. I have been getting ready, mostly by reading about screen printing for now. I had gotten a screen printing kit by speedball to start with, and am planning on getting all the other supplies I need soon. What I should really be concentrating on though is organizing my computer, my room and cleaning... sigh (again)

I had been following him since around 2001, when I was 11-12 when I would watch Fashion Television. He was brilliant and just always ahead of everyone. I think I've got the crafty bug back in me. I made a felt rose hair barrette for a co-workers birthday in black. I cut out each petal out of felt and fanned it out to create a large flower. I liked it a lot so decided to make one for myself. This time I made a rose in a more simple pattern with layers of felt from large to small. I got some more felt and am going to try to make a bunch of these.

I got my first iMac! I am so excited. I love it, it's seriously amazing. The funny thing is, it barley fits on my desk.

Today we had our first snow storm of the season. We had warning in advance so it wasn't a surprise. It's really starting to feel like the Holidays! 37 cm for the whole day. This was a photo taken around noon. My boyfriend and I did some shopping, it was great because there was no one in the stores but a little scary when you see cars with no snow tires slipping and sliding.

I am sitting in my bed after a long, long, long day and I cannot sleep. Sleep does not come to me early these days, even if I try. I decided to post about something that I was very excited about and when it finally came it didn't disappoint. Lush's new fragrance Vanillary is in stores! It smells just like the whole vanilla range, Vanilla Fountaine, Heavanilli Massage Bar etc. A true natural vanilla scent hugged by sophisticated Jasmine and Tonka. The packaging is adorable, really retro but still minimalistic to keep with the minimal packaging practice from Lush.

I jumped, like a stupid kid when my coworker showed me the first box of these that came in at work. Whatevers, I'm not a freak... only a (Lush) fan. Of course, I bough one.

Sasha had kittens!

I'll start this off by explaining who Sasha is. She is a cat I spotted outside in our side yard from the kitchen window. I hurried outside to see her. I got there, and she was hiding under the car... she slowly came out about the same time my sister followed me outside. She was starving but she had a big belly. Long story short, my mom, sister and I fed her and she stuck around as we kept feeding her. She was scared to come inside but eventually she starting living with us. The day before yesterday she had babies! 3 Little kittens with squishy little faces always crying for their mommy when she leaves to stretch her legs or get us to feed her more. She eats like 2 large cans of wet cat food a day! There are 2 grey, and 1 black kitten. I am so glad we found her, so we could save her and her babies' lives.
You don't want to know how many cats we have in the house now. My dad is not a happy camper...

My favorite Lush Products

I love Lush. It's not just about the magical smells and beautiful mountains of bubble bars and soaps that keep me smitten. The products work, amazingly well! It wasn't hard to pick my favorites but it was hard to stick to the 4 I started with. These are the products I use and keep around all the time.1- Dream Cream: This is something I don't think I can live without. The scent is herbal and comforting. It does for the skin what warm tea does for the stomach.

2- Baby Face: This make-up remover and cleanser is perfect. I don't wear make-up that often but when I do or when I just need a gentle cleanse I grab this cute(creepy) bar. I would never use a foaming or chemical rich make-up remover ever again. Make sure you apply and remover with a wash cloth and warm water for this to work its magic and not leave your face greasy.

Oh my. I have not posted in so long. A lot has gone on and not much has gone all together. I have another cat.

Meet Martha. (Yes after Martha Stewart!)She is hyper, affectionate and adorable. When we adopted her from the pound, we did not know it but she was carrying the cat flu. It's like a bad cold for us. They get fever, sniffles and they become very tired with no appetite. Poor thing was sick but then the other cats, Caramel and Ragz got it too. Caramel first and she got hit the hardest. She still isn't the same. Ragz was fine but his immune system is pretty good.

Ragz is really territorial so it was difficult fer him to adjust (still is). Not to mention we found a pregnant girl cat outside who he won't allow in the house. We feed her and give her a little house outside but she is still frightened to relax in our house. I will try to get a picture of her. My sister named her Sasha.

I have signed up for my practical drivers lessons. I am nervous. My first appointment is next week!

I've also been thinking about starting a baking blog. It would be just about my adentures through baking cookbooks and my trials making my own recipes. It could also help me keep track of what works and what doesn't.

I don't buy from e-tailers often. I tried a few and nothing stuck but I might have found an obsession. I first ordered from her shop because of so many raves on the Lush NA forum. I got 2 hair leave in products which were alright but I went too far out there in my scent choices (my fault). She sent me a few sample and one just had me huffing it over and over again. It was a sugar scrub in a scent called Enlighten! It smelled like creamsicles with some thing extra (patchouli) that made it deep and interesting. I contemplated for a long time on my next order that included the scrub. Here are some photos of the order!

Project Runway Canada Season 2 WINNER

SUNNY FONG won Project Runway Canada this season. I am so happy because he is incredibly talented. His inspiration for his show was Alexandre The Great and he pulled it off perfectly. The judges (including model icon Iman) were all unanimous in their decision. Rita Silvan from Elle Canada was always singing Sunny's praise the whole season as well and he won most of the chanllenges. His work was amazing!

Dear Dogs and Cats:

The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep.. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss ME first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:

TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:

Okay so I love pancakes. I am not a crepe girl, which is why I hate eating breakfast out in Montreal. Stupid boring crepes filled with bananas.
Home made pancakes from scratch with real maple syrup! Heaven.

Here is the pancake mix recipe I use from Nigella Lawson:

Pancake mix:

4 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons sugar

Pancake batter:

1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 cup of dry mix

You mix up the dry ingredients and store away, then when you are ready you mix up the pancake batter! Easy peasy!

I think chocolate is the best thing in the world. It is evil to me sometimes, but a relationship without a bit of hurt isn't any fun. I made these cupcakes because I wanted a cake that could satisfy my chocolate desire but I should have listened to my mother and made brownies. My mother doesn't eat brownies, so I listened to my boyfriend and made cupcakes. They were good, but not chocolate-y enough.

I have a question: Do you like your chocolate cake to be dense and rich in chocolate flavor and texture? Or are you a sissy? Whenever I make a chocolate cake some people complain that it is too rich. Maybe it's just me, but a chocolate cake needs a glass of milk. There should not be any question about the fact that a chocolate cake needs a glass of milk, it's a given!

I don't know how that questioned turned condescending... Sorry.

No one complained about these sissy cupcakes though. This is why they are Mr. Cupcakes, next time I will make a MADAM cake and she will have all the goods.

Christmas Past

Merry Christmas past! I was busy working most of time but Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were very relaxing and enjoyable. My boyfriend got me the ring I always wanted! I also got a Hello Kitty spa wrap from my sister, cupcake, cake pans and a carrier from my mom! I was so lucky. I went shopping the other day and I went a bit crazy... one of the things I got was this ring at Razberry this awesome store on Saint-Catherine. Everything was 20% off. Ben got him and I a pair of Addidas shoes they were all 50% off which is pretty awesome. What's sad is that I have some more shopping to do!

I love Sephora. The only thing I hate about it, is that you can wander around for a long time and then walk out with nothing out of frustration because you cannot decide or you walk out spending too much money.

On to why I am posting. I started a love affair with nail polish. I always hated it because the drawer dedicated to it in my house is filled with old nail polish bottles 3/4 of which are dried up but no one seems to have the heart to throw them away. Anyway, I picked up 2 nail polishes at Sephora the other day and I love them. They did not have the colors I wanted so I chose a cherry red* and a deep orange** for my mom, sister and I. They were the SEPHORA by OPI Nail Polishes at 11$ (Canadian) each, which seems a lot but they really are better than the 4$ ones.

I haven't posted in so long! I am sorry. I have not been making any jewelry at all, sadly. I have been baking though. Tonight I made a Peach Crisp with fresh gigantic peaches we had. Fruit desserts are some of my favorites because they are always perfect with vanilla ice cream. Here's a photo:

If you like Haagen Dazs ice cream, like I do. Please go find this ice cream. It is called Sticky Toffee Pudding, like the dessert from the UK. I watched the Haagen Dazs create a flavor competition on the Food Network and this was the winning flavor, now it is a permanent flavor and it even made it to Canada! It is so yummy. The pieces of cake like fudgy pudding are so good with the creamy ice cream.

Sorry for my lack of posts. I have been a bit busy and did not have much to say. I've been seeing my best friend a lot which has been really nice. My toes and finger nails are painted red since Friday. I never used to paint my nails but I decided to do it and I love it. I also forgot to take a picture of the Tiramisu I made for my mother's birthday. It is my specialty dish, the kind I can make on a whim without a recipe. Besides this I finally took a new idea I had in my head for a long time and made it happen! It worked almost exactly as I planned. That is a picture of it but do not copy it if you know what it is! I am officially bored. I really need a new job. I know I need to study for my driving test but I will procrastinate because that is how I am. I am also very discouraged about listing any more items on Etsy because I haven't sold anything in awhile. I really need to start setting up my mini catalog of my items so I can hopefully start selling locally.

My cousin's wedding yesterday was nice. She rode in white horse drawn Cinderella carriage to the small church with a group of her dad's friends on motorcycles following which was cute and funny. After the church my grandmother complained in the car. We got a big storm while we were getting ready for the reception at home and lots of places got flooded including the highway my boyfriend needed to drive on to get to our house from work so we can get to the reception. We were late but it's okay because didn't miss much. My favorite part was that at the reception hall everything was black and red! The walls, the table cloths everything was black and the bows on the chairs and plates were a dark red. It matched the colors of her wedding. Also her dress was a princess ball gown cut dress covered in large white silk type feathers, it was gorgeous! I don't really have any pictures because we didn't take many at all. We got home at almost 2 in the morning and we left earlier than most people. My dad drove safely! My polka dot Betsey Johnson shoes (I posted about these not to long ago here) were really comfortable! I am sleepy...

Not to bore you but my boyfriend bought me a present yesterday while we did of shopping downtown! At Betsey Johnson! I love going there because 90% of the time the sales people are wonderful and so sweet! I found this cute cherry satchel bag! I wish I could afford everything in that store but alas I cannot. Anyway, my boyfriend is so nice.

We went to the new Apple store. It has two floors with a ridiculous amount of steps between each floor. Other than that and the fact that it was packed on a Monday afternoon it was really nice and modern. The best part was the lighting. The lighting was better than outside! I need to know how they did that. Crazy!

This morning I was still pretty tired from yesterday night. I officially met 2 of my boyfriends cousins, one of their boyfriends and friend of theirs over sushi. I was so tired because I ate so much and I haven't been out that late in awhile. It was fun though!

Blueberry Pie

Monday the boyfriend and I went to the farmer's market and got 2 baskets or fresh Quebec Blueberries. Yesterday (Tuesday) my mother prepared a crust and after super I prepared a blueberry filling. The recipe is from Martha Stewart. I love pie and it came out so tasty. some of my nails were stained blue but for some reason I love it when my hands stain from berries or food coloring when I bake. When my clothes stain that is a different story... Anyway Yummy. I am eating a piece right now!

In other news I am so excited because last week the new season of Say Yes to the Dress on TLC started! I love that show. Yesterday's episode was not that exciting... but I still had fun watching it.

My first ever retro order came this week! We had made a group order together not long ago between 4 of us at work. I went to work today and my products were there! I was so excited. Everything was labeled and individually packaged which is great because there was a whole deal at one point where lots of products purchased online came naked, which is stupid because they get ruined easily if not wrapped... When I first came across Leafty on Etsy I could not take my eyes or my computer mouse off of their wonderful and whimsical characters. Their shop is filled with original needle felted, three dimensional goodies. They also have magnets and prints with their same adorable characters all inspired by nature and animals. 1-How and when did you get started working together?
We started in 2005. We first started making fabric mirrors and as we both come from a creative background we then began designing our own. This developed into us designing a wider range or products such as magnets, stickers, jewellery, and homeware. Finally the company developed into a world of 3d cuteness.
Cocoakoala got interested in designing in 3d so she went into designing plush and needle felt this in turn got me interested in it also. From this point we continued with our 3d designs which then led us to sculpting out of paper clay.

2-What first inspired you to do the work you do now? What continues to inspire you?
We have always loved animals and nature and this initially inspired us to do everything that we do now. Japanese animation has always been a big part of Cocoakoala’s childhood and we both love children’s book illustrations which continues to inspire us however the main part of our inspiration is just from our imaginations.

3-What do you hope to accomplish with your company in the future?
We are constantly working on new projects all the time and one of them is possibly releasing a series of vinyl/ resin toys. Our long-term goal is to continue designing unique toys that appeal to more customers and continue to make our customers happy.

I asked my boyfriend to take me to Winners today. I planned on looking for some things for my room but I found better. I made my way to the shoe section, which is usually disappointing but this time I found a pair of cute Betsey Johnson shoes. I snatched them and continued on my way. Another pair of Betsey Johnson shoes came to me and then another! I was so excited because the black pair with white polka dot pair were the shoes I had found downtown (120$) that I fell in love with. I got them for 49.99$! I also found another pair of casual low wedge Liz Clayborne Shoes for 15$ and 2 dresses.

I might return the black with flower pattern Betsey Johnson shoes because I am not that crazy about them but I walked out of Winners with 4 pairs of shoes and 2 dresses! Very exciting!

It really feels like summer now. I finally finished the earrings that have been sitting in the back of my mind. Cherries! Perfect for summer. I think they are so cute. I am also working on a charm bracelet that matches the earrings so stay tuned for that.

Morning

Good morning cloudy day. I had very little sleep last night because I woke up ever 2 hours. At 4 AM the lighting, thunder and heavy rain woke me up and I was afraid. I woke up again at 7 and I stayed in bed until 8 to eat breakfast. Home made (by me) banana bread with coconut and almonds. It's delicious if I do say so myself. Now it is 10 and my cat is laying next to me while I type this blog entry. I need to take a shower before work.

It's so humid! The air conditioning won't be fixed until the end of the week. ARG!

My new Pjs make me happy though.
